2020 Astrology

2020 invites us to receive opportunity and change with gratitude and compassion as we act from a place of full-ness instead of control. On the last day of 2019, Moon is conjunct Neptune in Pisces, allowing us to feel soul-full, loved, loving, and dream our way into the new year. As a reminder, the calendar year is just one of many ways to measure time. Celebrations that mark the passing of time that I honor include the Wheel of the Year, my birthday, each zodiac season (sign), Eclipses, Moon cycles, and My Moon Cycle.

Speaking of Neptune in Pisces, as of 2020, Neptune has just 5 years left of their 14-year journey through Pisces. It takes all of 265 years for Neptune to travel through the whole zodiac belt, and from 2011-2025 Neptune is journeying through their home sign of Pisces. Being in their own domain, Neptune has all of the resources they need to do what they do best. Neptune = inspiration, dissolution, and confusion. Neptune is mysticism, madness, and the undoing of the mind. Neptune is the psychic force that obscures, deceives, addicts, escapes, and dissolves boundaries and structure. This transit has been referred to as going from a "Mystical Breakdown to Mystical Breakthrough". 2020 marks the last 5 years of this force of boundless, watery energy that fuels inspiration, imagination, spiritual enlightenment, and sensitivity.

The celestial sphere is offering up an unusual supply of game changers. From the first few days of 2020 to the last few days, each zodiac season (month) accrues critically important planetary cycles that will set the tone for many years to come. There is more opportunity in the present moment than ever before to birth into our personal and collective peace.

There are 3 planetary conjunctions that don't just happen every year or two, and all of them happen in Capricorn, the cardinal Earth-sign climbing sea-goat of honor, respect, integrity, and ambition, ruled by Saturn, who is at home, in Capricorn, until December 17, 2020. Venus and Mars will also Retrograde, something that happens every 19 and 26 months, respectively.

Saturn-Pluto Conjunction in 22°Capricorn: January 12, 2020

The first huge planetary shift in 2020 is the coming together of Saturn and Pluto. This Saturn-Pluto conjunction happens in 22° Capricorn on January 12, 2020, and is a new cycle conjunction that is creating a new era of the Saturn-Pluto cycle. This huge planetary shift embarks on a 34-year journey into intense personal and societal restructuring of power and resources.

This Saturn Pluto conjunction represents the precipice of a redistribution of power and who makes decisions that affect the greater collective. The cycle of these two planets is one of the highest tests of integrity, morality, capacity, and resilience for those in authority.

Pluto = elimination of waste, destruction, power struggles, break downs, upheaval, and capacity to renew. Pluto seeks power and control. Saturn = mastery, discipline, structures built over time, and slow processes of maturation. Saturn seeks increased performance and proof we're acting from a place of consciousness and not from a place of unconsciousness. Saturn is the Lord of Form -- Saturn is about substantiality, in a subjective interior sense AND also with this embodied self participating in the world.

Restructuring our own values and the world’s values will be called into question. There will be incredibly strong economic consequences, especially with Uranus in Taurus (2018-2026). We are experiencing a huge shift of resources, values, consumption, agriculture, and our relationship to Earth. Huge developments and advancements will be made balancing progress and tradition.

This cardinal Capricorn energy comes in waves of initiating, action oriented, obstacle-tackling, self motivation. Ultimately this conjunction demands we take responsibility for the construction and destruction we've caused.

Jupiter-Pluto Conjunction in Capricorn: April 4-5, 2020, June 30, 2020 (Rx), and November 13, 2020.
Jupiter and Pluto will form 3 conjunctions throughout 2020 due to Rx and Direct motion. Throughout the three meetings, their exact conjunctions will be on 3 Capricorn degree points: first in 24°53, 24°07 during Rx cycle, and the last conjunction in 22°52. There is a lot of opportunity to expand, do big things, create big meaning. This desire for growth can be compelling -- we may listen deeper to our most profound desires and act on them or transform them. Jupiter opens us to the possibilities. In Capricorn, this energy wants to be laid down into practical, material form. Don't be worked up to push too fast or go too far. If you feel pressured throughout the year, remember that the biggest thing you could can expand to is to become a more compassionate, present human being.

Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction in 0°28'Aquarius: December 21, 2020
This conjunction is known as the Great Conjunction, and is being referenced as the "Great Solstice Appulse", and is one of the most important cycles used to predict collective and sociopolitical events. The last time Jupiter and Saturn conjoined was on May 21, 2000. Jupiter and Saturn are known as the great "Chronocators", or time keepers, because their 20 year cycle was one of the most simple and reliable way for star-watchers to track time and change for 3 millennia. On a societal level, this conjunction has been closely linked to the rise and fall of powerful leaders. According to Daniel T. Ferrera, a financial astrologer, whenever this great conjunction happens during an election or inauguration year, the president of the U.S. is likely to die in office. This conjunction happens on December 21, 2020, and the next U.S. presidential election is just a few weeks beforehand on November 3, 2020.

In the more personal realm, this conjunction may feel like we've reached the end of one life and are advancing to another. We are breaking through barriers and limitations and are unearthing how our own fears are holding ourselves back from happiness or transformation. This time shares opportunity to invest in freedom and prosperity.

6 Eclipses regulating collective and individual karma shift from Cancer-Capricorn to Gemini-Sagittarius
Eclipses are portals that can shift or break dynamics and patterns. Usually there are 4 or 5 Eclipses throughout a year, but this year there are 6 eclipses, scattered about the seasons, opening many portals of restructuring and energy flow. Four are Penumbral Lunar Eclipses, one is an Annular Lunar Eclipse or "Ring-of-Fire" (like we experienced on December 25, 2019), and one is a Total Solar Eclipse. Eclipses spend about 18 months in a pair of zodiac signs. Our ecliptic nodes are currently at Capricorn and Cancer from ~2018-2020, so throughout 2020, eclipses are going to finish off the Capricorn-Cancer axis and begin in the Sagittarius Gemini axis.

Eclipses regulate collective and individual karma. Right now our karma is processing the primal awareness between Cancer (nurturance, protection, gentleness, control) and Capricorn (desire to achieve, respect, status, long maintained structures). In 2020 Earth's Eclipses move into processing the karma between Gemini (distraction, meaningful exchange, restlessness, edginess, active listening, and dialogue) and Sagittarius (freedom, arrogance, hedonism, greed, adventure, curiosity, faith, and surpassing your comfort zone).

There will be 3 Supermoons in 2020, defined as when the Moon is less than 223,694 miles from the Earth's core. These Supermoons will be on March 9 in Virgo, April 7 in Libra, and May 7 in Scorpio.

How to work with any of this information in your own life and Natal Chart?

First off, you are warmly invited to experience an Astrology Session (or 2 or 3 throughout the shifts of 2020) with me, to understand the most relevant celestial opportunities for your incarnated soul on this Earth. You can learn more about my practice here, or reach out to me with any questions.

If you have planetary placements at or near any of these mentioned points, these shifts and energies will be most felt and personal for you! Let's say the Jupiter-Saturn exact conjunction at 0°28' Aquarius is less than 1 degree away from your Moon in 1°08' Aquarius -- you may feel like you've reached the end of one emotional lifetime and are venturing into the next. You're breaking through barriers and limitations in your own habitual responses, emotions, and daily purpose. You're seeing how your own fears are holding you back from happiness and emotional liberation.

Another way to read into your own chart is to look at Houses. An example is what House(1-12) rules Capricorn in your own chart? There are huge celestial shifts in Capricorn throughout 2020, so observing that house, or area of life, and its symbolism will be telling. Even if you don't have any planets in the house, it's still a house in your life, and the house and the Capricorn zodiac character are encoded with information. Let's say Capricorn is your House 2 of Resources, then watch for huge shifts or power, resources, and breakthroughs in self-esteem, self-worth, values, value systems, finances, resources of all kinds, and how you earn your money. Let's say Capricorn is your House 6 of Health, then listen for monumental shifts in your day-to-day responsibilities, your chores, obligations, unpaid service to others, your health and well-being, and caring for animals and people who depend on you.

Here's to soul-full-ness, peace, spores, and transformation in 2020.
