Fungus: Cortinarius ahsii

Happy Full Moon!

A full moon, a time of heightened energy, is also a time of heightened receptivity -- for stillness, clarity, and allowing yourself to feel the physical cycles of growth and release. Capricorn is recognizable by their obvious authority, which exists out of respect and creative containment, and not intimidation. In this way of being honorable and respect-full, Capricorn symbolizes your true calling. What is your connection with the world?

Capricorn often stands in their own way, demanding the highest standards for themselves and those around them. In this moment of Full Capricornness, sandwiched by 2 Cancer new moons, we release the compulsion to be acknowledged. We release the expectations that have persisted in our perspective, and when this happens we become generously gifted by our own wonder. It is here that we can celebrate life sensuously.

Throughout the weekend, moon will form conjunctions with what has been referred to as the "Capricorn work party": the Saturn, Pluto, Jupiter, and Pallas Athena (Asteroid) conjunction in Capricorn -- all of whom are now in retrograde motion. The truth of your sensations and emotions will brings about a wave of release having to do with our old selves seeing visions of the new.

Cortinarius ahsii, the Capricorn Full Moon fungus.

This Capricorn full moon fungus is Cortinarius ahsii, at least I think so. I won't really know without getting a genetic test of the specimen I collected, but a few others and I can only give the ID our best guess when it comes to the often elusive Cortinarius genus. As much as Capricorn likes to maintain the distinctly defined rules and maintain safety, we know that our reality is constantly changing and we have no control over it. What "ought-to" or "should-be" is released during this full moon?

This silky shiny Cortinarius ahsii actually fluoresces bright yellow under UV light! Who would have thought? A different perspective changes how we see the picture... When Capricorn (and Saturn; Capricorn's mentor) accepts and receives their more hidden emotions, they can begin to celebrate and honor them. Saturn and Capricorn, who is also the Pan archetype, are actually profoundly abundant, ecstatic, fertile, and erotic! Who would have thought? How beautiful are these easily concealed colors!?

Pluto & Jupiter formed their second conjunction in Capricorn out of three on Monday night, June 29th. This year, these two planets first met on April 4th and will form their third and final conjunction on November 12th, forming a new 20-year cycle. With both planets still conjunct in retrograde, we see the internalized meeting of growth and breakdown, of enrichment and discharge, of elevation and underworld, of joy and primordial instincts.

Chiron stations retrograde in 11° Aries on Saturday, July 11th and just two days later forms a conjunction with Mars (July 13th), the mentor of Aries themselves! Asteroid Chiron orbits between Saturn (their father) and Uranus -- between what is visible and invisible. Saturn is the last planet visible to the naked eye, so Chiron beckons forth the unseen (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto). With this conjunction, we courageously step into our true selves, without shame, aggression, or fear or being "broken".

Mercury stationed retrograde on Thursday, June 18th in 14° Cancer and is soon to station direct on Saturday, July 11th in 05° Cancer. Where do you come from? Mercury Rx in Cancer reorients to knowing family as well as support. What have you been given? Expectations? Measures of success? A legacy to adhere to? Or have you been gifted a sense of gratitude? Deep within Cancer's changing tides is the knowing of the deep, unseen, truth. Much like Capricorn who is on the other side of this zodiacal axis -- these two signs are two (very different) expressions of the same thing.

In what ways are you truly able to come back to a sense of groundedness? This is a wonderfully supportive time to get closer to family, spruce up your home, and dig through family photos. This is also a powerful time to get in touch with the the deepest core of your invisible being -- the ungraspable place that connects us all in the ocean of unseen anchoring.

How do you attempt to protect yourself from the unknown? How can you invite peace and compassion towards yourself as well as the unknown? Mercury will leave its retrograde shadow on Saturday, July 25th.

With so much Capricorn and Cancer cardinal energy, we are being gifted so much love and truth about who we are, what we've been given, and what connects us to this world. Sending you spores of soul-fullness for this beautiful Full Moon!
