Welcome to our second Cancer New Moon in a row! Sandwiched by our last full moon in Capricorn, this double Cancer newness cleanses and nourishes -- our bodies, minds, emotions, and spirits. When you cannot perceive and also honor your own sensitivities, then you end up demanding care-taking from others. How can we learn how to use our emotional bodies to nurture ourselves? From this self-understanding, Cancer begins to radiate compassion and lovingness.

Sun enters Leo on July 22nd: the courage to be seen.

This Cancer New Moon welcomes us into the Sun's very own zodiac season of Leo. As we say goodbye to 2020's Cancer season, we transition from a place of deep emotional honesty and the building of security into motivation and courage. What does the courage to be seen mean to you?

In this beautiful dance, this Cancer New Moon asks us to take emotional care in order to leap into playful self-expression, and the illuminating Leo-Aquarius axis. Our upcoming Full Moon will be on August 3rd in Aquarius. Something about focusing on our emotional well-being will invoke the vibration of soul-full creativity.

Contemplate how your ideas are changing due to emotional energy.

As the first water sign, Cancer introduces us to the emotional facet of our beingness. Emotions by their nature are unstable and flow through the body. Many of us are trained by modern culture to think that the creation process isn't related to how you feel or your emotions. Contemplate how you can and do experience your emotional energy consciously as sensations in the body.

Emotional energy, if not expressed consciously, will find other ways to make itself known -- body pain, anxiety, and tangible manifestations of all sorts. How can you befriend your emotional body? How can you learn how to comfort yourself with your own energy? Cancer reminds us that if we do not have an emotional connection with ourselves, then we will project our neediness onto others and demand sympathetic responses in often unconscious emotional manipulation.

New Moon Fungus: Clitocybe albirhiza 

This white mushroom speaks of Cancer's watery emotional presence and the introduction of Leo season's courageous creation. "Albirhiza" means having white roots -- a nod to Cancer's domain -- the inside, internal, invisible rootedness that connects us all. This mushroom has distinctive white rhizomorphs -- or extra thick parallel-oriented masses of hyphae. While this fungus is a cold tolerant fungus, this unique mushroom can develop underneath the snow layers at high montane elevations and then become visible once the snow banks melt. What might fruit from the melting of our emotional snow banks?

Snowbanks must have melted from the high terrain just a few days before these Clitocybe albirhiza fruited.
