We Are Jeweling the Ordinary
Fungus: Xerocomellus zelleri (Zeller's Bolete)

Welcome to this Leo Full Moon of Jeweling the Ordinary! Every Full Moon is when Sun and Moon are opposite, exact by degree. Full moons are always an opportunity for letting go and release. With Moon in Leo, this is a wonderful time to look at our relationship to fun, passionate self-expression, pride, and PLAY! Are you performing your self-enjoyment or self-adoration? Where can you feel that you creatively express yourself? Leo Jewels the Ordinary through releasing pride and the illusion of separateness. We Jewel the Ordinary when we find joy in our own hearts.

I recently found out that Celtic, Germanic, and Jewish peoples agreed historically that the day began in the evening, which explains the fact that some of our older Holidays begins with the "Eve". I also find this to be a curious counter-current to the demands of the rush of morning Capitalism.

A Xerocomellus species, showing us their heart! Probably a zelleri?

Everybody is a Leo
Everybody is a Leo somewhere. When we look into pride, we hear "I did it!" or, "Look at me, look at what I can do, do you like it?". You can acquire possessions, skills, beauty, and as much power as you'd like. Pride implies that "I" did this and other people did not. How have you been comparing yourself with others? The inverse of pride is dejection --where you have not achieved what you wanted because the world, or somebody else, is not recognizing what you did. You feel unworthy because something in this material world has not given you a sense of worthiness or wholeness. Leo can partake in this illusion of separateness, too, just like any other Zodiac Sign.

On the other side of Leo is Aquarius, and it is through this axis that we balance in this Aquarian Age. Aquarius represents the "highest" of human mind, which is opening the heart-centered consciousness. Leo shows us that true joy is found in our own hearts. Leo's primal urge is to love! and create! by opening the heart

Fungus: Xerocomellus zelleri (Zeller's Bolete)
This mushroom doesn't have very much pizzazz to many people. It is an edible mushroom, yet it is often quite water-logged and infested with fly larvae (cool! providing ecosystem support). Zeller's Bolete grows among the West Coast (U.S.) conifers, sometimes hardwoods, and has a velvety blackish-brown cap and a scratchy-looking red and yellow stem. Underneath this cap are bright yellow pores that can sometimes feel a bit slimy to me. Zeller's Bolete is one of those mushrooms that sometimes stains or bruises blue, and sometimes it seems to not.

Xerocomellus zelleri (Zeller's Bolete)

The thing about Zeller's Bolete, is that who are you to rate a mushroom? They're all going to look, taste, smell, feel, and sound different, even those in the same species. Even the ones you cultivate are going to have different nutritional makeup depending on their growing environment and substrate. Mushrooms have a variety of differing medicinal qualities, and mushrooms have a mixed bag of personalities. All mushrooms are, though, connected by the incredible mycelial web, and each fruiting body has their own shining inner light.

What internal fire do you release?
Since this Aquarius New Moon grew into a Leo Full Moon, what about Aquarius did we let germinate and myceliate, and what about Leo are we releasing? What internal fire do you release? This Full Moon gives us the perfect chance to feel Sun's intensity and warmth reflect off of Moon. Begin in any present way you'd like, but you could try letting the rays wash you from your solar plexus and flush through your heart.

Sun is Leo's planetary ruler, and the Sun is a million times larger than Earth. Leo guides us into bringing our own essence into our relationships, activities, and desires. Leo knows that as the sun rises, with each and every encounter, expression, and activity, is one that gives direct experience of the Soul. Leo teaches us that we are soul. Something happens through you rather than you doing it. Leo finds that the jewel is their own heart-centered consciousness. This little Zeller's Bolete is also a jewel.

Venus conjunct Chiron in Aries
With Venus conjunct Chiron during this Full Moon, be brave and present for what comes up! Old wounds are surfacing with how we relate to others and how we assign value and wealth. Chiron is definitely a little (lot?) messy. Venus symbolizes our values, how we hold value in ourselves, what we care about in others, and how we relate to ourselves. Are you "rating" anywhere in here? Is pride involved? What about your values don't truly reflect your values and who you are -- deep down in your heart? I've told Chiron's incredibly potent story before and I'll tell it again!

Chiron's Story
Chiron is the wisest of the Greek Centaurs (human-beast) who was the "illegitimate" outcome of a violent and lusty encounter between Saturn and Philyra, a sea nymph. In mid-act Saturn (currently in Capricorn) turned himself into a horse to hide from his real wife, so out came human-horse Chiron. Philyra was filled with repulsion, shame, and memory of her violation, so she abandoned baby Chiron. Being a child of the gods, Chiron's wit and creativity brought him under the wings of Apollo and Artemis who taught him about craft, art, music, and medicine.

One day Hercules accidentally shot Chiron in the thigh with a poisoned arrow. Despite being trained in medicine, Chiron just couldn't heal his own wound, and he couldn't even die since he was an immortal demigod. So he went off sharing how others can heal, all the while suffering and enduring pain from his own injury. Many moons later, a deal was eventually struck and he could finally die.

Chiron restores wholeness by surging the past to unite with the present. Chiron tends to make you feel like you're being broken open. This human-beast just wants to reconnect what has been fragmented, separated, or isolated in our human-hood. For this reintegration to happen, we live with our brokenness, not away from it, to embody healing by being in the present moment.

What planets or houses do you have in Aries?

Moon square Vesta in Taurus
What hearth are you tending? Our spiritual commitments, devotion, and focus to what is calling us might be feeling at odds with our reactions, emotions, and habitual responses. Vesta (or Hestia) is the guardian of the hearth and the home. Vesta is temple priestess, Goddess of the sacred flame, the one that keeps our homes alive and well. Vesta is also the divine symbol of the flame inside ourselves (so much fire!) We may be feeling limitation or doubt where we are rooted. There is also incredible opportunity to heal guilt and shame. Where is Vesta for you?

February 7th: Venus enters Aries
This transit symbolizes spontaneous, direct, and courageous love. We may feel bold, fresh, and a little impatient. While Venus is conjunct Chiron for a few days, this light is illuminating how we've caused injury or pain to ourselves and others. Our ability to relate with others and create physical conditions for love can have the right use of force and self-awareness or it can be insensitive, forceful, and raw and unfiltered.

February 16th: Mars enters Capricorn
This is a beautiful time to carry out the slow and steady work on your projects or aspirations. The energy of this slow-building enduring sea-goat is especially available for our use when Mars is here. Set a sustainable pace for yourself and climb this mountain. Remember, success shows up as joy.

February 16th: Mercury stations Rx while Square to Moon

Also on February 16th, Mercury turns Retrograde (Rx) for the first time in 2020 in 12°53' Pisces. Since this transit happens with a Mercury square Moon aspect, this Rx could pull on tension between the heart and the mind. Stay centered and grounded, and practice relaxing as we continue through the pre-Rx Shadow.

We entered Mercury's Rx Shadow on February 2nd, which indicates the area of the Zodiac that Mercury will appear to revisit during their Rx. Mercury will travel all the way back to 28°13' Aquarius which is where they will station Direct on March 10th. During a planet's pre-Rx shadow, we can prepare for this journey backwards.

During this upcoming Rx, Mercury moves backwards from Pisces, dipping into Aquarius for a short stint, and then surfaces through Pisces once again. Mercury governs communication, travel, early childhood development, cognitive processes, your bicycle, exchange, and technology (since this encompasses so much of our exchange). Aquarius is the Dream Hatcher . Pisces is the Mystic Swimmer.

February 18: Sun enters Pisces!

February 20: Jupiter sextile Neptune
Jupiter in 17°45' Capricorn sextiles Neptune in 17°45' Pisces. This is the FIRST sextile between these these planets with two more coming in July and October of 2020. This is generally a feel-good transit, and things will go just as they've been set up to go, especially when it comes to spiritual growth, creative inspiration, and intuition. Well, how are you setting them up to go?

Spores!!!
