Libra is one half of an axis that also includes Aries. This Libra Dark Moon (9/28) will expand into an Aries Full Moon (10/13). Through Libran qualities, we are given the opportunity this cycle to germinate, set intentions for sporular release, form bonds, digest and grow through our nourishment, mold a vision, collaborate in the stability of an ecosystem, mature voluptuous Aries fruiting bodies, disperse and reproduce spores, decompose, and recompose into something new.
The Libra/Aries Axis is one of how you relate with other people, how you form relationship commitments and expectations, and how you embody your raw, unfiltered energy. On one side of the axis, Aries takes a step down from their own power and reconsiders what it means to be powerful. On the other side of the axis, Libra makes important decisions about their personality, identity, and who they want to be. Libra and Aries can transform deeply embedded instincts by listening to themselves and each other.

Inky Caps are mushrooms with dark spores whose gills dissolve into an inky, spore-laden liquid in a process called deliquescence. In other words, the mushroom liquifies. Inky Caps can digest their gills and a majority of their own fruiting bodies in just a few hours through hydrolytic enzymes. This selective death process occurs just after the mushroom has released a single round of spores. The mushroom tissue gets out of the way of the spore babies, allowing them to proliferate without the overbearing shadow of the parent mushroom. This fruiting body ends up releasing spores and destroying itself leaving just one sign: a dark liquid that can be used by humans as ink for art or dye.
Inky Caps are comprised of two lineages of fungi -- Coprinus and Psathyrella. Coprinus Inky Caps are in the family Agaricaceae and are related to Agaricus and Lepiota fungi. Inside the family Psathyrellaceae includes the Inky Cap genera of Coprinellus, Coprinopsis, Parasola, and Psathyrella. It is likely that new genera will be discovered and genetic research will continue to alter our perception of these species and their heritage.
Inky Caps liquify into themselves. They show us when their time is up, and when to surrender and turn inward into our own transformational energies. Inky Caps are inviting us to turn towards our tenderness and negotiate with our dark, juicy pain. Give up the resistance and avoidant strategies.

Consider your power and avoidance strategies
So, here we are in a new (as in fresh -- right now -- new to our experience!!) Moon cycle. By journeying into the darkness, we have the opportunity to eat at this table of Libra. Be considerate of other peoples' love language while expressing your own needs. If you become frustrated at yourself or others and feel like your intentions are not fruiting, they are not fruiting because you have blocks to your own self. You can blame and get caught up with story or you can simply admit the only truth which is that you are not comfortable.
Consider your personal power within your intimate relationships or people who you have deep commitments with. This could be with partners, collaborators, family members, business partnerships, and close friends. How are you getting hung up on competition or comparing yourself with others? How are you caught up in disregard? What are your avoidance strategies? Are you participating with numbing, overdoing, or overworking? Now consider your personal power with your most intimate relationship -- yourself? How are you avoiding yourself?
How are you seeing dysfunctional and destructive behaviors in your own personality? Are you seeing them or are you avoiding them? To allow ourselves to transform our destructive behaviors, we have to stop our avoidance strategy, turn and greet the energy that needs attention, no matter how slimy, name that energy, look them in the eyes, and thank them knowing that they are fulfilling a very difficult role that not many beings want to do. Transformational energy is being served up, and if we don't accept a seat at the table, we won't have the food to share with others.
Negotiation is a felt art
Shaggy Mane (Coprinus comatus) that has become inky (Mushroom-collecting.com). |
When we are coming from disregard, coldness, competition, or maintaining power, our true essence is distracted and we become blocked to others and to ourselves. We won't be able to negotiate with others if we cannot negotiate with ourselves. Let yourself be supported and cared for by yourself, and by others. Honor your sensitivity. Radical transparency is what we can allow each other to move into in this cycle.
Libra rules the kidneys and lumbar region
Kidneys typically come in pairs and are responsible for a whole lot of functioning and regulating in the body. Kidneys filter and remove waste and extra fluid from our bodies, release hormones that control blood pressure, create red blood cells, maintain bone health by making Vitamin D, and control pH levels by regulating the acid that is made when cells break down. The lower back acts as a hinge of our body. It is from our lower back that we fold into ourselves. In our modern capitalist race, many people suffer from lower back pain often brought on from their static desk jobs. Libra and our lower backs remind us how important it is for our physical bodies, as well as emotional and energetic bodies, to fold into ourselves. To stretch inward and regulate our own insides so that we are not collaborating on an empty tank.

Transits are when planets enter new zodiac signs. All of the personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, and Venus) have been synched up since June, traveling next to each other and journeying through the zodiac signs together. The personal planets will move through Libra during Libra Season (September 23 - October 23). Venus and Mercury entered Libra on 9/17. On the day of the Dark Moon, Sun, Moon, Venus, and Mercury are in Libra. Mars shifts into Libra on 10/4 to join the planets remaining in Libra -- Sun and Venus.
Moon : unconscious, body, habitual response, emotional body, daily purpose
Sun : consciousness, attention, vitality
Venus : wealth, values, pleasure, magnetism
Mercury : communication, exchange, how we talk to ourselves and others
Mars : assertion, action, willpower, desire
Libra : collaboration, compromise, aesthetics, harmony
Mercury enters Scorpio on 10/3. Our mental space and how we communicate enters the sign of acute awareness, attentiveness, subtle tracking, intense pleasure, and intense transformation.
Aspects
Aspects are angles that planets make with one another. There are many, as we are in a constant song with the planets planets, but I include the most exact aspects that are going to be the most profoundly felt. Read over the upcoming aspects to understand your context in greater cycles. How do your Dark Moon intentions align with the change that you need?
On 9/28 Moon is opposite Chiron, the wounded healer. We may feel extremely sensitive around this time. It's going to be vital to honor your sensitivities and your emotions. Turn into them instead of away from them. Chiron is the bridge between the spiritual and material world and symbolizes the key that shifts our awareness towards our wounds.

10/1 Venus Squares Pluto. Our values, wealth, and pleasure are going to be triggered or compromised. Power, control, and tension may surface in relationships. How are you relating to power? There is a lot of opportunity to face insecurities and to transform deeply buried fears.
First Quarter Moon is on 10/5, and from here leading up to the Full Moon in Aries on 10/13, we have huge opportunity to transform how we compassionately cooperate with ourselves and how we compassionately cooperate with others.
10/7 Uranus opposes Mercury. Uranus symbolizes breakthroughs, sudden change, disruption, surprise, and liberation. Anxiety, mental fog, or confusion have the opportunity to become undisguised around this time. Slowing down and creating space and time to care for anxiety or mental health will be healing and revealing. It's important to keep an open mind and remember that change is the only constant of our journeying on earth.
10/8 Mars opposes Chiron. Our pain, trauma, and wounds may feel more difficult to bear during this time. We may feel ineffective, frustrated, irritable, confrontational, or have less energy. How do you internalize your pain? How do you externalize your pain? Deal directly with blockages, avoidant behaviors, and fears. Chiron represents the tiny key, like a wee inky mushroom, that we can so easily disregard or plow over while we rush to the finish line, or to work, or to the point.
10/12 Uranus opposes Venus. Our values, ideas of wealth, and what we are attracted to has the potential to shift, perhaps in unexpected ways. Uranus wants liberation, so let your values and ideas of "wealth" become liberated.
