Capricorn Full Moon of Rooting the Directing with Meadow Mushroom

Welcome to this Capricorn full Moon of Rooting the Directing. The Capricorn Full Moon on Monday, July 3rd, 2023 illuminates the energies of Cancer and Capricorn. The Sun in 11° Cancer forms an opposition to the Moon in 11°  Capricorn. The balance between private life, domesticity, the need for a home base, and nurturance (represented by Cancer) versus the public life, career, reputation, and accountability (represented by Capricorn).

Cancer encourages us to value safety, home, and our sense of rootedness, while Capricorn influences us to consider what we are applying ourselves to build and our sense of duty and responsibility, publicly or professionally. Capricorn is about achievements, rewards, and punishments. Cancer represents the origin. Capricorn the goal. Neglecting either end of the axis will backfire. Ideally, a balance is found between the two energies, and this is what the full moon invites us to do. This full moon ignites the conflict and multitudes between roots and direction.

Take a moment to consider:

What are the tools, protections, and structures needed to keep you from drowning in the vast ocean?

How can you take responsibility for your gifts?

Is your home a place of consumption or generation?

The fungus for this quality of time is... drum roll please! The meadow mushroom. We'll just stick to the Agaricus campestris species group. Much like full moon in earthly Capricorn, the plump white face of Agaricus glows across the expanse. As Saturn is now in Pisces, the vast meadow is kindred to the mystic ocean. The Cancer polarity tickles soft pink gills underneath the outwardly directing Capricorn cap. Many might say there's nothing special about the Agaricus, but question them and begin to uncover the falsities and critical perspectives. It's a mushroom! How amazing is that? Take responsibility for being a mushroom. Take responsibility for loving mushrooms.

Saturn, Capricorn's conduit, provides direction. However, direction might be going all ways, for Saturn is currently swimming in 7° Pisces, retrograde. The planet of commitment, authority, and boundaries is in the mystic ocean of cosmic vibrations. Saturn will be in Pisces from 2023-2026, and this is otherwise known as the Saturn return period for those of us with Saturns in Pisces. And, woohoo! That's right. It's me. I'm here. My Saturn is 100% returning.

In a bit of a personal deluge, I'll detail further what it means for Saturn to be in Pisces both on a collective scale and especially for those who are experiencing their Saturn return. Saturn works with mechanics and order, and when thrown into shapeless waters of Pisces, let's just say that's not the smoothest of pairings.

For anybody experiencing their own Saturn return, a core principle is that Saturn represents authority and that we are now faced with the choice to defy, desert, or assert power. Do you have a strong need to be useful to society? Contemplate where you look for this justification in the outside world. Do not seek approval from the outside, it will not help you get rid of your doubt and is harmful to your spirit. Saturn return (in Pisces) requires that we listen to our bodies, thoughts, and emotions, and choose for ourselves which rules we want to live by. Saturn isn't about band-aid fixes. It's about commitment and steady persistence over time. Dear Pisces Saturn return, how are we going to architect compassionate new social structures?
